Kumara


Sydney Kelly (born Appledore 1879) was captain of the Kumara in 1921 when he resigned from the company.
She was the sister ship of Waiwera on which Sydney had been captain for a number of years.
Kumara was built at Newcastle in 1899 by C.S. Swan & Hunter. and Lloyds Register list her details as follows:
Ships No. 110258, SteelSc3MstSr, 6034 Tons, 425.1 feet long, 54.2 feet breadth, 29.6 feet depth. Built for Shaw Saville & Albion.
