Akaroa


Richard Alfred Kelly (born Appledore 1860) was captain of the Akaroa for three voyages to Australia (/ New Zealand?) and one to the Cape Colony between 1899 and 1903. (Lloyds "Captains Register" - The Guildhall Library - London)
Akaroa was built in 1881 by Osborne Graham & Co of Sunderland and Lloyds Register list her details as follows:
Barque -Iron, 1334 Tons, 221 feet long, 36.5 feet breadth, 22.7 feet depth. She was built for Shaw Saville & Albion.
